FujiFilm XF10-24mmF4 First impression
After suffering with the horrible Fujifilm 18mm f2 lens for months, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered the Fujifilm XF 10-24 f4 lens and it arrived late this afternoon. Taking the lens out the box, my first impression is this is a heavy lens. It feels like a tank compared to other Fujifilm lens, both in weight and size. So far the lens feels really high quality.
Mounted on the Fujifilm XT1, this lens feels really heavy and it makes the camera front heavy, it is a huge change to how the body feels with the very light weight primes like the 35mm 1.4.
The closest place I could shoot the lens this evening was at a local university and I spent about 30 minutes taking some test shots with the lens and I will say that this lens focuses fast, the image stabilizer seems to work well and the lens seems to be very sharp.

I know many people dont like HDR, but I really enjoy shooting HDR. It is so different from my work, and it makes me want to go out and shoot. The biggest problem with Fujifilm files for HDR is the colors, especially the green spectrum of colors. They tend to go neon green if you are not careful.
I really did want to continue shooting, the lens felt great, I was enjoying the files on the back of the screen and I loved how wide this lens felt in the viewfinder. Looking at the files back home, I really like this lens now. The images seem sharp, it has the Fuji rendering and colors as well as fast focusing on the Fujifilm XT1 body.
Back at home I got my Nikon 16-35mm lens out to compare it to the Fujifilm 10-24mm lens. They have nearly the exact focal lengths and the same minimum aperture. I have not weighed the two lens yet, but the Fuji lens feels about the same weight to me as the Nikon, even though the Nikon is much taller than the Fujifilm lens. The Nikon lens is one of my favorites on my DSLR and so far it seems that the Fuji lens seems to be just as good, for which I am extremely grateful for.
I will go shoot some more test shots this weekend with my full Fujifilm kit and I will post a full review of the FujiFilm XF 10-24 f4 lens in the future, once I have shot about 1000 frames with it.
