Best Rock Metal Bands in China 2015
These are the best bands that I have shot in 2015. Maybe there are better bands in China, but I did not shoot them this year. I will only make my selection from the bands I have personally shot this year. All foreign bands are excluded as well; this list will only include Chinese and Hong Kong bands. This year was a terrible year for music in China, with multiple festivals and shows being canceled by the local police in various cities. But there were still lots of good shows for music fans, and these are my top 5 bands for 2015.
Evocation招魂 is my number one pick for the best band in China right now. I have shot Evocation招魂 for the last three years in China, and each year, they have been steadily improving. 2015 was most definitely the best they have sounded, and I really enjoyed their shows this year. My second pick is 九宝乐队. 九宝乐队 has performed really well this year and even took a brief tour of Europe. 九宝乐队 is a Mongolian folk rock metal band, and they have been slowly becoming one of the best bands in China. 九宝乐队’s popularity has skyrocketed in recent years and will usually pack out any show they are playing. 零壹乐队-voodoo-kung-fu is one of China’s oldest and most popular metal bands, and they are my third pick this year. This year saw 零壹乐队-voodoo-kung-fu making a bit of a comeback, and they completely tore up the stage. Another must-watch band in China. For more photos of 零壹乐队-voodoo-kung-fu
梦灵乐队 (Dream Spirit) is my fourth selection for this year. 梦灵乐队-Dream Spirit was the winner of WOA and one of the fastest rising bands in China. 梦灵乐队-Dream Spirit mixes classic Chinese culture and metal music, creating their very own unique sound. 梦灵乐队-Dream Spirit is a band to watch out for in the future. 痛仰乐队 (Miserable Faith) is my final selection for this year. They are one of the older and more experienced bands in China now. 痛仰乐队 (Miserable Faith) spent a lot of time on a mini tour around China this year. By far the best live performance band in China right now, each 痛仰乐队 (Miserable Faith) show is action-packed, filled with thousands of fans screaming, shouting, and crying in passion. While I don’t consider them a pure rock band, they play enough rock songs in their performance to justify their place on my list. There are thousands of bands in China, and while this is my list, many people could make completely different selections and be completely justified. That is just the nature of such a large country. I really enjoyed shooting this year—there were so many good bands to watch in 2015, and I am sure that 2016 will be even better.
