Shooting on the streets of China
Everyday when I leave my apartment, I always make sure I have a camera with me. I never leave without a camera because you never know what you will see.
I love shooting along Changjiang river in Zhenjiang, there is always a ton of things to shoot and many angry fishermen to piss off when I shoot them. I have been chased by fishermen a few times now, but i keep going back.
After this shot, this fisherman gave me a verbal lashing, there was nothing much I could do but smile and say to him in Chinese, sorry I don’t speak Chinese and carried on walking down the road.
An early morning HDR at a local university library. I woke up early to go shoot some sunrise shots close to the library but the clouds blew in as the sun rose, so I did not get the sunrise shots that I wanted but I did take some HDR shots with with the Fujifilm XT1. This building has always given me a foreboding feeling when ever I would walk past it and this shot was perfect for me. It is exactly how this building makes me feel when I walk past it.
The weather sealing on the Fujifilm XT1 means that I can now keep shooting in the rain.
I felt like a stalker getting this shot. I saw this guy with a bright pink hoodie on and I wanted to shoot him while he was on the yellow paving but he was walking like a drunk person, playing on his phone. I must have followed him for 10 minutes waiting patiently for him to get onto the yellow line.
The new car fad in China. So many cars are putting those toy windup things on their roofs. I am seeing them everywhere lately. Not sure I would do that to my car, so I guess this is a uniquely Chinese style of car bling.
Things in China get fixed so quickly. I shot this at about 11 pm on the previous night, and when I walked past here the next day at about 10 am, it was repaired. I was a little disappointed to have it repaired as I had hoped to shoot some portraits here the next day. That is life in China, it is a fast paced, highly competitive country, and you must take every opportunity as it comes up or you will lose it.
That’s all for today
