Acoustic guitar show Zhenjiang China 2015

The first show of the 2015 music season was a small acoustic guitar show. I love shooting small shows and venues. Most pros hate shooting the small shows but I enjoy it, it is difficult to shoot because the light is poor, the stage is normally cluttered but I enjoy the challenge of making good photos in situations like these.

 

 

 

The show consisted of 5 sets with each set lasting between 10 to 30 minutes.

 

 

 

The first set was very short, only about 10 minutes.

 

 

 

 

The second set was played by 沈骏阳. I have never really paid much attention to acoustic  guitar shows in China before but I was really impressed with what I saw.

 

 

 

 

The third set was performed by 王开种 and out of all the Chinese performers that night, he was by far the best one. I really enjoyed they way he mixed traditional Chinese elements into his playing style. As for my shooting, by this stage I had found all the good angles for the show and shooting became much easier.

 

 

 

 

Sambo Ray Jr was the forth act and the only foreign performer on the bill, but he was outstanding. Clearly the star of the show, he played mostly covers of older pop songs from the 90s, but his skills were incredible. He clearly got the loudest pop from the crowd after his performance and he clearly deserved it.  The last performance of the night was 胡样

 

 

 

 

His performance was OK, but not at the same level of Sambo Ray jr.  I enjoyed shooting this small little show, and I simply want to say thank you to the organizers for inviting me to shoot it.  It is always good to get the first show under your belt after a little lay off and now I am ready for the bigger shows that are coming at the end of this month.
