Shan Tang Jie Suzhou China
My last trip to Suzhou for a while, and this time I was going to visit Shan Tang Jie for the evening. Shan Tang Jie is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Suzhou, and during the evening it becomes super crowded with tourists. It has many bars and cafes for people to try out, but they are extremely expensive.
I love walking, and if I can walk somewhere in China, I will. I started this evening off with a 40-minute walk from Tiger Hill all the way to Shan Tang Jie. It wasn’t that far but was extremely peaceful. I hardly saw anyone until I was virtually there.
Once you get close to Shan Tang Jie, you will start to run into some people, and once you are in the main area, you will see hundreds of people. This is such a popular tourist location here in Suzhou.
There are traditional boats riding up and down the river, but they are extremely expensive, so I never took one. I don’t see the point of taking a 5-minute boat ride up a canal with about 100 people jammed onto a boat like sardines in a can.
There is so much to see and do along this street. The street is not that big but it takes a long time to walk along all the alleys and explore all the little shops in this area.
I really like all the lanterns and lights all over the streets and alleyways in Shan Tang Jie. It is a very pretty place to explore and just walk around in. If I am free while in Suzhou, I always try to visit this street. I will be coming here again in the future. If you are in Suzhou and free in the evening, this is a must-visit location.
