Baota shan Park Zhenjiang China

There is something about older Chinese parks that attracts me. I am not sure what it is, but I find it much more interesting and fulfilling to explore an older park than a newly built one in China. Baota Shan Park is one of the older parks in Zhenjiang and is almost completely overlooked and forgotten. Many local Zhenjiang residents don’t even know about the park, which made it a great place to explore.

I went to the park this spring and nearly scared the ticket seller to death when I asked to buy a ticket for one person. I guess I was the first foreigner she had seen in many years. The park was very empty, with just a few local elderly people walking around. It was very relaxing to walk around and take some photos without anyone always following me.

The pagoda is so old and dilapidated that they have closed it off to the public, so you cannot climb up there anymore. It looks old, and I love that. So many pagodas are rebuilt every few years and they look too modern, losing their appeal. Old is good.

Mostly I only found old people relaxing in the park and they looked like they came here almost every single day.

The park is really beautiful in the spring and I enjoyed my time here exploring and shooting a little. I really love these small unexplored parks in Chinese cities.
